- Special Olympic Bharat (SOB) has been accorded recognition by the Government as a National Sports Federation (NSF).
- It is the Nodal Agency of the Department of Sports for organizing coaches, training and sports competitions in selected sports disciplines on District, State and National basis to promote the potential of disabled persons in sports and games.
- It has been categorized under Priority discipline by the Government for providing financial assistance for organizing national/international events in India, participation in international events abroad, coaching/training of national team, equipment support etc in accordance with the norms under the Scheme of Assistance to National Sports Federations.
