Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs(CCSCH):
  • The Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs(CCSCH) was established in 2013.
  • It was established with the support of more than a hundred countries under the Codex Alimentarius Commission(CAC).
  • Purpose:
    • To develop and expand worldwide standards for spices and culinary herbs.
    • To consult with other international organisations in the standard development process.
  • Why in News? The fifth session of the Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs (CCSCH) has been virtually inaugurated.
  • Host Country: 
    • India is the host country.
    • Spices Board India acts as the Secretariat for organising the sessions of the committee.
  • Significance: Since its inception, the Committee has been successful in developing harmonised global Codex standards for spices and herbs.
