State Resolution against Central Laws – UPSC Prelims

  • States can pass resolution against Central laws : SC
  • The SC was referring to the State Legislative Assemblies of Kerala and West Bengal passing resolutions against laws such as Citizenship Amendment Act or the new agriculture laws.
  • A Bench, led by Chief Justice of India, said that these resolutions are merely opinions of the majority members of a Legislative Assembly and do not have the force of law.
