National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme

 

Ministry/Department:  Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
Objective to provide apprenticeship training to over 50 lakh youngsters by 2019-20 in order to create more jobs
Scheme:
  • Scheme will be implemented by Director General of Training (DGT)
  • Union Government will provide financial incentives to the employers to engage apprentices
  • Union Government will directly share 25% of the total stipend payable to an apprentice with employers
  • In addition, Union Government will also support basic training which is considered an essential component of apprenticeship training
  • Union Government will bear the 50% of the total expenditure incurred on providing basic training to an apprentice.
  • The NAPS has been framed to meet objective of National Policy of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015 which focuses on apprenticeship as one of the key components for creating skilled manpower in India
